Villages and Places : Mam Ratagan

Part of the charm of Glenelg and Arnisdale is the effort you make in getting there. Not only is it in a remote corner of north-west Scotland, but you have to travel there by ferry or over one of the highest mountain passes in the UK .... Mam Ratagan. At around 1100 feet and with several hairpin bends on a single track road, the journey takes on the feel of an adventure, culminating in a sense of achievement when you finally descent into the 'hidden' glen at the end of which lies the village of Glenelg.

Below is the view from the top of the road looking to Kintail.
