Save Our Surgery – update

Save Our Glenelg Arnisdale Surgery

Dr. Simon Hurding’s secondment to the Scottish Government in June 2011 was used by NHS Highland to implement a review of the future of the Glenelg Surgery. This review included the Out of Hours service and the Emergency Response to Glenelg & Arnisdale.

At the time, it was an unsettling period for many people in the area who feared that our service would be rendered unsafe and inequitable.  The Community rallied together to support our two local representatives :  Peter Jones, Community Councillor and Michael Francis, Glenelg & Arnisdale Development Trust and engaged our Community in a Campaign to maintain our local service.

The fruits of the “Save Our Surgery Campaign” paid off when it was officially announced by our community representatives that:

“… NHS Highland have agreed to retain Glenelg and Arnisdale surgery services in full. This includes Out of Hours and Emergency and Immediate Care Response. It was made clear that this agreement is unconditional…”

Thanks are conveyed to everyone for supporting the campaign and getting involved.
